The Post School of Highland Dance, Inc.started in Nebraska in late 2003. Our purpose is to provide an enjoyable way to experience and explore Scottish culture and history through dance. Members have the choice to perform, compete or just take classes.
We began with three dancers, and have since grown. As we have grown, the performance group has changed their name to the Midlands Highland Dancers. Dancers of MHD perform mostly in the state of Nebraska, but also include Western Iowa. Dancers also compete in the surrounding states of Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.
The MHD have performed at various functions, including annual recitals, weddings, anniversary parties, Durham Museums Christmas at Union Station, Bellevue Worldfest!, Grand Island's Ethnic Festival, Fremont Days Festival, Celebrate Lincoln, and various St. Patrick's Day performances in Omaha and Lincoln at both senior living facilities and restaurants. The dancers also fundraise and put on the Nebraska Indoor Competition and Workshop. Dancers also run an informational booth at Worldfest! each year to promote Scottish music and dancing.
